Educational yet Somber Hiroshima Tour

Our tour with Hiroshima resident Pancho was very informative and provided us lots of details regarding the fateful day of August 6th, 1945. Pancho’s family’s personal experiences gave us a particular insight into the horrific events. Pancho was very easy to communicate with and we truly enjoyed our time with him. At the end of the day, he took us to his favorite okonomiyaki restaurant to eat. We enjoyed this Hiroshima favorite dish! We highly recommend Pancho if you need a guide in Hiroshima.

Solo Day Trip to Hiroshima

Travelling solo, I really appreciated Pancho’s flexibility in adapting the tour to my needs, from stopping for coffee to adjusting our itinerary. His deep knowledge, excellent English, and thoughtful presentation made Hiroshima’s history both informative and deeply moving. Booking a private tour turned out to be the best decision, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a more meaningful experience.

A deeply human story of Hiroshima — quietly reminding us of who we are, and who we may choose to become.

A truly memorable tour. Pancho’s perspective as the son of a survivor gave Hiroshima’s history a deeply personal dimension. Through his stories, we not only learned about the atomic bombing, but also about Japanese culture, resilience, and the importance of preserving these memories. What touched us most was how he transformed such a tragic history into a meaningful message about compassion, hope, and our shared humanity.

Make the most of your day i

n Hiroshima

Our family immensely enjoyed our walking tour with “Pancho” (Tetsuo Hamano). A son of A-bomb survivors, he injected personal insight into our tour of the Peace Garden and local monuments (and taught us to make origami cranes), and helpfully answered all our questions – setting us up well for our moving visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Highly recommended.

Incredible, meaningful, and beautifully guided tour of Hiroshima

We had an unforgettable half-day tour with Pancho, a knowledgeable, compassionate, and thoughtful local guide. His personal family story added a deeply moving perspective to Hiroshima’s history, while visits to both iconic landmarks and lesser-known survivor sites brought the past to life. The origami crane experience was especially meaningful. Pancho also recommended an excellent vegan Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki and shared helpful tips for visiting Miyajima. We left with a much deeper understanding of Hiroshima, its people, and its remarkable resilience. Highly recommended!

A Meaningful Experience for All Ages

Pancho gave us a fantastic tour of Hiroshima. His deep knowledge and unique perspective as a second-generation survivor brought the city’s history to life in a truly meaningful way. He was friendly, engaging, and a pleasure to talk with. Our teenage children enjoyed the tour just as much as we did. Visiting Hiroshima is an emotional experience, but its message of resilience and hope is unforgettable. Highly recommended!
